Whitepaper Focuses on HTML5

Mobile site and application developer MoMac has released a whitepaper on the implementation of  HTML5 technology in mobile platforms. The report, HTML5 in the mobile world: Myths and Realities, considers which features of HTML5 are particularly interesting for the mobile internet; which can be used now; and what are the opportunities ahead?

The report notes that major players like Google and Apple have already adopted HTML5; Google in his mail client Gmail, Apple in its iAd platform, which is integrated into iPhone OS 4, which is also written entirely in HTML5. And with the continued growth of the market for smartphones, HTML5 provides solutions to problems that have until now blocked a number of mobile internet innovations. It enables videos to be played direct form the browser, for instance, without the need for an additional plug-in. This has the direct effect of reducing the CPU load, and consequently extends battery life.

Other benefits include the ability for users to perform drag and drop operations, the ability to perform tasks in the background, and advanced form management.
