Pop star Will.i.am has unveiled a smartwatch, developed by a company which he founded and backed with his own money.
The watch - which is set to be released in July - doesn't seem to have a name yet, but the first prototype was shown off by Will.i.am himself on UK chat show Alan Carr: Chatty Man. (You can watch the clip below.)
The watch won't require pairing with a smartphone, and will be able to make calls directly. This functionality has been absent from most of the bigger smartwatch launches we've seen so far, but isn't a first - Burg and Neptune both have independent devices on the market or launching in the coming months.
It's not clear what OS Will.i.am's watch will use - and its appearance on the TV show only provided the briefest glimpse of the UI - but Facebook, Twitter and Instagram apps are slated to run on the device.
