Witness Confident App Sends Evidence of Crimes Straight to the Police

5-0, the appUK charity Witness Confident has launched the enhanced edition of its Self Evident app.

Self Evident, first launched in September 2013, enables witnesses to send evidence of a crime to the police from their mobile device.

Previously, users had to record within the app in order, but this update makes it possible to upload evidence from the devices media library. This should widen the use case of the app, as witnesses dont need to have the app already installed on their device beforehand, while also extending the sources to include home CCTV, dashboard cameras and other equipment.

“We welcome enterprising solutions which reconnect the public and the police,” said London Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, Stephen Greenhalgh. “Using new technology in this way is central to our plans to cut crime, bring offenders to justice and make London the safest big city in the world.”
