WoodWing Software has revealed that The Sunday Times, is creating its weekly iPad editions using WoodWing’s Digital Magazine Tools software. The newspaper made its debut on the iPad yesterday.
The Sunday Times is Britain’s best-selling quality newspaper. The iPad edition offers all 12 sections and the full content of the printed newspaper, and has also been extensively enriched with videos, images, interactive graphics and tables, and shopping options. The app provides different layouts for landscape and portrait mode.
One of the key features of the app is that readers can download the newspaper section by section. The section page displays a virtual newsstand of all available sections, enabling readers to download the content that most interests them. Using the software’s progressive download feature, users can begin reading almost instantly, while the download of the rest of the section continues in the background. Each section has its own individual cover, table of contents and page viewer.
The iPad editions of the The Sunday Times are included with the digital subscription of £2 per week, which includes access to The Times iPad Edition and Times and Sunday Times websites. It is also included with a seven-day newspaper subscription. Individual editions of the app are available for £1.79.
