
Tablet publishing company WoodWing has announced a raft of updates to its various Tablet Reader apps, as well as a new version of its Content Delivery Service.
The slew of updates takes in the iOS Reader app, the Android Reader app, and a new HTML5 web app – for reading digital publications in Chrome or Safari.
The company has also revealed that its Content Delivery System is now ready for multi-platform publishing, as the tablet device space begins to become more crowded.
The iPad Reader app is updated to version 1.8. It features a HTML5-based store, which allows publishers to customise their storefront, within the app. The update also allows for downloading issues in the background, even when the app has been shut down.
“In 2011, Apples iPad will remain the tablet platform with the highest market relevance,” says WoodWing president, Erik Schut. “By utilizing the new capabilities of WoodWing´s iPad Reader app, publishers can further optimize the sales and distribution of their iPad editions.”
The Android Reader app is updated to version 1.1, and is available is available in two flavours, supporting Android 2.2 (Froyo) and 3.0 (Honeycomb). The update features new fit-to-page functionality, which allows content to be displayed on tablets for which it has not specifically been designed.
