Xbox research broadens to improve game development tools

Xbox Research has broadened its focus to include developers and collaborate with product teams, aiming to provide data insights that improve its tools and services.

The goal of this expansion is to gather data that can “address pain points and enhance the experience of partners across the spectrum of disciplines involved in bringing games to market,” according to a blog post by the technology giant.

Microsoft’s gaming division has been conducting research for over two decades to enhance gaming experiences based on player feedback.

The methodologies for gathering this data will follow those used in previous studies with players.

Meanwhile, the research is open to all developers, even those who don’t publish games on Xbox.

“We want to hear from everyone who works on games or helps support game studios because if we can make your life easier, it makes gaming better,” Principal User Researcher Deborah Hendersen, stated.

“If you are making video games, we’re interested in hearing from you. If you aren’t on Xbox, we’d love to know why. And if you’re using our competitor’s products, you probably have a great perspective we could learn from.”
