Xiaomi joins forces with Google for Android One Mi A1 smartphone

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has partnered with Google to introduce its first Android One-powered smartphone.
Android One was launched in India in 2014 with the aim of bringing affordable smartphones to emerging markets by partnering with hardware companies, and Xiaomi is the latest to get onboard with the initiative.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 comes with identical specifications to the Mi 5X which the company launched in China. It will have Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box, and will be updated with Android 8.0 Oreo by the end of the year. It also comes with a rear 12-megapixel dual camera with two times optical zoom, and a five-megapixel front camera. It will be the first Xiaomi device that doesn’t use the company’s MIUI system. 
The phone will be available in 40 markets including India, Mexico, Indonesia, Russia, Vietnam and Taiwan, and comes in black, gold, and rose gold. It has been priced at 14,999 Rupees (£180) in India.
