Xiaomi Partners with Uber for Instant Smartphone Delivery

Black cab taxiPhone manufacturer Xiaomi has partnered with Uber to promote its latest handset.

On 27 July, Uber users in Singapore and Malaysia will be able to order the Mi Note by selecting a special Xiaomi option in the taxi app. Available cars will be marked in the brands trademark orange, and users can pay with their Uber account to have a handset delivered within a few minutes.

Remarkably, this isnt the only collaboration between a brand and a taxi app announced today. Starbucks has partnered with Lyft, enabling users to earn Stars, the currency of Starbucks loyalty scheme, for every ride in a Lyft taxi.

The partnership also has perks for each companys staff. Drivers will automatically be made Starbucks Gold members, and will also be able to earn Stars for rides – and their passengers will even be able to gift a cup of coffee to their driver direct from the app. Meanwhile, the coffee chains baristas will be provided with free Lyft rides to and from work.
