Norwegian smartwatch company, Xplora Technologies, has launched its Connect services in the UK. It has signed a partner wholesale agreement with mobile virtual network, IQ Mobile, establishing Xplora as a mobile service provider in the UK market.
The agreement will allow Xplora to bundle its smartwatches with Xplora-branded SIM cards and offer Xplora Connect services in the UK market, delivering on its strategy of moving from device-centric to a full solution and being more service-oriented. Users will have the option of selecting their plan when they buy a watch and choosing between £7.99 a month with no minimum term (Flex) or paying 12 months upfront with a 15% discount (Saver).
Xplora is already operating as a mobile service provider in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, and has reached a market penetration of more than 5 per cent in the Nordic markets combined and 17 per cent in Norway. The company has announced a target of extending service provider operations to 1-3 new markets in 2022. The UK marks Xploras first new market with mobile service provider operations outside the Nordics.
