Less than two weeks after buying programmatic video platform Brightroll and with rumours already circulating about a new round of acquisitions, Yahoo has bought photo app maker Cooliris for an undisclosed sum.
The company, founded in 2006, is best known for creating a 3D wall for navigating between photos and other media content, as well as creating mobile ad platform Adjitsu, which was sold to Singtels Amobee division in 2012.
Recently, the company has focused on mobile apps, and enabling users to browse photos across various media platforms, such as Flickr, Facebook and Dropbox.
“Yahoo has a clear vision and unwavering commitment to making mobile an intuitive and effortless experience,” wrote the Cooliris team on their website. “This makes Yahoo the perfect partner for Cooliris, and we are excited to come together to bring indispensable products to a worldwide audience.”
Cooliris Mobile version and BeamIt Messenger will continue to work as normal for the time being, but neither company has confirmed how Cooliris products or staff will be integrated into Yahoos operations.
