YouTube has begun rolling out a ‘Breaking news’ section across all platforms to keep users up-to-date with the latest news videos relating to incidents around the world.

The breaking news feed, which was first reported by Android Police, has listed videos relating to the terror attack in Barcelona last week and Donald Trump firing Steve Bannon, amongst other big news, since its introduction.

The videos are displayed in a horizontally-scrollable format, and appear the same for everyone within a particular region. It’s not clear when the feature will be rolled out to everybody (I haven’t seen it pop up yet on mobile or desktop). It is also unknown if the section is a permanent feature or if it will only appear when a major event happens around the world.

Users have the option to not see the section by clicking the ‘x’ on the section on desktop or by selecting ‘not interested’ in the three-dot menu on mobile. The section is available on both Android and iOS YouTube apps and on desktop.
