YoYo Games has launched GameMaker: Studio, a development tool which can be used to create iOS, Android and HTML5 mobile games. GameMaker: Studio provides users with a drag-and-drop interface and built-in scripting language to create 2D games that can be deployed across platforms from a single code base.
“Studio is the next evolution of the GameMaker technology,” said Russell Kay, chief technology officer at YoYo Games. “Almost 8,000 developers participated in the beta, and have been instrumental in helping us deliver a tool that is ideal for independents and professional development teams.”
YoYo Games has also signed a licensing partnership with German games development studio HandyGames, which is using the GameMaker platform to create its latest roleplaying game.
