Zapp Announces Major Retail Partnerships

UK ZAPPMobile payment company Zapp has partnered with a wide range of retail businesses in order to introduce Zapp to a wider audience in 2015.

Among the retailers lined up to support Zapp are Asda, Sainsburys, House of Fraser, Thomas Cook and the Shop Direct family of brands, which includes Littlewoods, very.co.uk and K&Co. Zapp will be introducing its mobile payments technology both online and in-store for the companies.

Zapp has also partnered with utilities providers such as Anglian Water, Sutton and East Surrey Water and Bristol & Wessex Water, and a number of charities through Oxfam and the Charities Aid Foundation. In addition, many of the UKs largest payment providers will work with Zapp to bring mobile payments to market, including firms like Verifone, Touch Go, Siemens and RSL.

The combination of partnerships should see Zapp rolled out to more than 35m customers, and represents one of the largest coalitions of retailer support for a new payment method ever in the UK.

“Today is a hugely significant milestone in the history of money in the UK,” said Peter Keenan, chief executive of Zapp. “At last the promise of a truly mobile and digital payment method will become a reality, meaning easier and more secure checkouts for millions. Its amazing to have the support of such well known retailers. Together with our other partners this means millions of consumers will be able to shop at tens of thousands of merchants up and down the UK at launch.”
