Zi Corp Inks Chinese Deal

Zi Corporation, which provides mobile discovery and advertising solutions, has signed a contract with the Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer, ZTE Corporation, for the delivery of its Decuma handwriting recognition solution in Chinese and English. Zi will receive royalties for units of products shipped using the Decuma software under this deal.
ZTE clocked up sales of over $5 billion (2.5 billion) in 2007. The company has established strategic cooperation agreements with leading telecos such as Portugal Telecom, France Telecom, Alcatel, Ericsson and Nortel in NGN and mobile systems; with Hutchison in 3G; and with Marconi in optical transmission systems. ZTE ships almost 30 million handset units, including mobile phones, data cards, modems and fixed wireless terminals (FWTs) each year.
