Zizzi Restaurants Serve Up Mobile Payments with MasterCards Qkr

Masterpass Qkr
MasterCard has signed UK restaurant chain Zizzi as the latest adopter of its Qkr! mobile payment service.

Available as part of the MasterPass app, Qkr enables users to monitor their current bill amount as they make orders, split the total with their fellow diners and make payments all from their phone. To access this information, diners check in to the restaurant, generating a four-digit code which they then share with the waiter.

Ask Italian, which is owned by the same company, Azzurri, adopted Qkr last year. Zizzi was announced as a Qkr partner when the deal was first struck, but is only now rolling out the technology. A third sister company, Carlucc

“Our customers at Ask Italian are already enjoying the app, so this is a natural step to bring Zizzi on board,” said Doug Wooten, Azzurri Group head of IT. “It’s the little details that keep customers happy at mealtimes, whether they’re a young family or a group of work colleagues in a hurry. The benefits of Qkr! are easy to see for both our diners and our staff.”

We tested Qkr in a Wagamama branch last summer – find out how it compared to other mobile payment offerings here.
