ZTE Claims World First with WiMAX Surveillance Terminal

ZTE Corporation, the global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has announced the release of the world's first WiMAX mobile video surveillance terminal, the Mi100.
Integrated with the WiMAX 16e chipset, the Mi100 enables automatic access and connection to WiMAX wireless networks. It supports high-speed mobile remote surveillance of up to a maximum speed of 100km/h. Measuring up at a compact and portable size of 115 x 62 x 50mm, the Mi100 terminal is easy to install and unlike traditional mobile video surveillance terminals, does not require an additional modulated decoder. It can also be deployed in public areas such as airports, highways, hospitals and railways, facilitating mass WiMAX applications in transportation, utilities, irrigation works, oil fields, and in government departments.
ZTE is a leader in WiMAX research and development, with around a dozen WiMAX R&D institutions located in different regions globally. As of November 2008, ZTE had deployed more than 30 WiMAX 16e networks across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. In October 2008, the company received the Wave2 Qualification Certification from the WiMAX Forum, the first Chinese company to ever receive dual award for its network equipment and terminal products from the same organization. ZTE has also forged partnerships with more than 120 operators worldwide to exchange insights and technical views on WiMAX 16e standards, network planning and construction, and other related industry developments.
