Global Bay Secures 300-store iPad Retailing Deployment

Global Bay Mobile Technologies, which provides next-generation mobile retail software, has rolled out its iPad Retailing solution in 300 Pacific Sunwear stores nationwide in the US. PacSun is a leading speciality retailer rooted in the action sports, fashion and music influences of the California lifestyle.

PacSun is among the first retailers to integrate Global Bay’s iPad Retailing app in the retail environment to enhance the in-store customer experience, capture potential lost sales, and create upsell opportunities. PacSun will deploy to an additional 100 stores during the course of 2011.

“Clearly, retailing is undergoing a fundamental change, and the appropriate adoption of new technologies can be a critical piece in building relevance with today’s consumers,” says PacSun CEO, Gary Schoenfeld. “Customers and store associates are finding the iPad to be a welcome surprise at Pac Sun, and are giving us very positive feedback for being an early adopter.”

Global Bay’s iPad Retailing app offers configurable features to meet each retailer’s specific needs. The app improves the interaction between store associate and consumer, while enhancing the overall in-store selling experience. Store associates are empowered to work with the customers as they are shopping throughout the store.

PacSun store associates can leverage the iPad as a personalized selling tool for one-on-one assisted customer selling. Through the iPad Retail apps Look Book functionality and rich-media content, PacSun store associates are able to walk customers through different outfit combinations and suggest products based on the customer’s purchasing preferences.

To eliminate missed sales due to out-of-stock items in the store, PacSun store associates can use the iPad to place orders for customers via eCommerce on the spot. In addition, providing sales associates with product information and inventory through the iPad ensures that items are never out of stock and orders can be fulfilled across any channel. PacSun has also integrated QR codes into the app to deliver exclusive content directly to the smartphones of consumers who scan QR codes on the screen of the iPad.

“The iPad is changing the way retailers interact with their customers, and we are thrilled to help retailers like PacSun use iPads to change the game on the sales floor,” says Global Bay CEO, Sandeep Bhanote. “Ultimately, using the iPad to increase multichannel sales and units per transactions makes the retailer successful.”

Built upon Global Bay’s award-winning mobile platform to synchronize and manage data, Global Bay’s iPad Retailing app provides retailers with an entirely new in-store channel to deliver content to the customer in an Apple-intuitive, efficient and sophisticated way.
