3G subscriptions in India will reach 200m by 2016, at a CAGR of 30 per cent – thats according to the Growth Phase of 3G in India whitepaper released by Evalueserve. The whitepaper looks at the lukewarm reception for 3G in India since 2010, with uptake below industry expectations, and attributes the problem to licensing delays and network stabilisation issues.
Evalueserve expects an aggressive 3G push by operators, based on an improvement in the quality of service and device affordability and a decrease in service pricing, to fuel growth in subscriptions. This will be supported by a CAGR of 41 per cent in the active installed base of 3G-enabled devices, to 680m by 2016.
