56 percent of retailers have an mCommerce app, according to research from multichannel commerce solutions provider CrossView – more than quadruple the number a year ago, when only 12 per cent had an app on offer.
The study looked at four touchpoints – online, in-store, call center and mobile – for a range of leading US retailers, using a mystery shopper approach. 79 per cent offered the same marketing promotion across all touchpoints – up from 65 percent in 2011 – but, while 86 per cent of retailers had loyalty programs, only 24 per cent made these available via their mobile site.
Only 24 per cent showed in-store availability on their mobile-optimised sites, and only 20 per cent enabled in-store pick-up – unfortunate, CrossView says, given the on-the-go, highly-motivated nature of mobile shoppers, as they seek products.
