Airtel has introduced its 3.75G platform to Rwanda, the fastest mobile internet currently available in the country. Using the latest global HSPA+ technology – which Airtel is also rolling out in Europe and the US – the network will offer speeds of up to 21 Mbps.
“The technology on our 3.75G network will give our customers the opportunity to interact with data in a different way,” says Marcellin Paluku, country manager, Airtel Rwanda. “This is why Airtel doesn’t see 3G as a product but a platform that enables the community to expand its social and commercial horizons, alongside the rest of the world.”
The upgraded network, completed in partnership with Ericsson, will initially be available to Airtel customers in the capital city Kigali, but will be deployed in other parts of the country over the next month. Airtel customers in Rwana will be able to sample the service for free for the first two weeks.
