Mobile seems to be seeping into almost every corner of the 2012 US presidential election, both officially sanctioned and unofficially. Zappars latest AR launch is very much an example of the latter.
By buying one of two specially marked hats from VisualiTee.com, combined with Zappars AR app, users can virtually wear a 3D mask of their chosen candidate – both of which resemble nothing more than the rubbery Nixon masks used by bank robbers.
The app can change the expression on the mask, take photos or record video, and then share the resulting content via email, Facebook or Twitter.
“At Zappar, we’re always looking for new ways to make life more fun through the use of Augmented Reality,” said Zappar creative director and founder Kirk Ewing. “These election-themed Zaphats certainly deliver on that and should make debating with your friends and family even more entertaining than the actual debates have been already.”
