BuzzMob Brings GPS Social Circles to iOS

Location-based mobile platform BuzzMob has launched an iOS app.

The app aims to connect users who are in proximity to each other, and allows them to chat, and share tips, photos, and rich media content. The proximity circle of users us defined by the iPhones built-in GPS hardware.

The idea is that users will connect with people around them who are experiencing the same thing they are, such as fellow concert goers, or people watching the same sporting event, says BuzzMob.

“BuzzMob is revolutionizing the way we think about and use social media,” says Jeff Jackel, founder & CEO of BuzzMob. “In the past, it was always hard using social media to share real-world experiences with people who arent there with you in the moment. Social networks have traditionally focused on documenting and broadcasting your experiences. At BuzzMob, were focused on enhancing them. So were bringing the social media experience to you based on your location and activity. Were making social media more social, in a network that moves with you and is always connected to where you are and what youre doing, right now.”

Features include the ability to join a ring of users (the company says it would work with “a few hundred thousand” members). Users can create social rings around their location, and define the geographical size of the ring.

Users can also seach for rings to join, and also observe a ring without participating it in.

The app is available now at the iTunes App Store
