China Communications Service, Chinas largest integrated telco, and Bytemobile, which provides Smart Capacity solutions for mobile network operators, have announced the formation of a joint venture in Shanghai to address opportunities in the burgeoning network optimisation market in China. The new company will provide traffic management and data optimisation solutions and services to operators throughout the country.
Over the past 15 years, Chinas extensive mobile infrastructure has grown to support what is now the largest subscriber base in the world. In the near future, China is forecast to experience strong mobile growth beyond 1bn subscribers – according to Reuters, the figure currently stands at 939.5 million – and introduce locally-developed handsets in competition with the iPhone.
“The need to address next-generation mobile networks and the rapid adoption of high-bandwidth data services has generated growing demand for network efficiency tools such as video and web optimisation in China,” says Li Ping, Chairman of China Comservice. “Operators are hungry for products and services in this space. Our joint venture will leverage the rich industry expertise, broad market access and strong local support of China Comservice to bring Bytemobile’s leading traffic management solutions to customers serving all provinces.”
