Cable&Wireless Launches STORM Interactive

Cable&Wireless Europe, Asia & US has officially launched STORM Interactive, which it describes as: Europes largest integrated suite of mass interactive communications services. The solution has been developed in partnership with UK hosted services company, Content Guru.
STORM Interactive incorporates voice, email, video-to-mobile, mobile Internet and SMS messaging. According to Cable&Wireless, it integrates an organisations systems and processes to enable personal interaction with customers and colleagues on a mass-scale.
STORM Interactive enables organisations with call centres to deliver proactive and reactive service status alerts to customers through a communication channel of their choice, keeping them updated, whilst safeguarding service levels. The solution is designed to work with almost any network or device, including fixed-line and mobile phones, to integrate mobile communications with other channels.
More than 100 businesses are already using the STORM platform. Broadcasters Five and BSkyB are using STORM for mass interactive services, such as televotes, information lines and competitions. STORM Interactive will increase the range of capabilities STORM offers to those customers and enable services such as real-time interaction with TV shows and purchasing direct from ads.
STORM Interactive operates proactive mass communications programmes on a scale that simply was not possible before, says Cable&Wireless Europe, Asia & US CEO, Jim Marsh. For example, it allows an electricity company to communicate with thousands of customers via text messages in the event of a power cut. This is the platform for the new era of personalised mass communication. It is classic disruptive technology, taking proven ideas and applying them in new ways that match the emerging needs and expectations of the next generation.
