Mobile email company Emoze has announced the launch of what it claims is the first true push mobile email service for Gmailusers worldwide, including Google Mail users, as the service is formally known in the UK, Germany and Austria.
The free service, available for download direct to consumers mobile handsets at http://mobile.emoze.com, or via a web-based wizard on the Emoze website, targets the millions of Gmail account holders worldwide. Emoze says it is committed to the democratisation of mobile email by providing free push email service to the global wireless market that prefers to use any type of standard mobile device, without the need for an expensive BlackBerry handset and monthly service.
Given the increased adoption and availability of mobile devices, there is a greater flexibility for todays workforce to conduct business on the fly says Cheryl Gutowski, Research Analyst at Nucleus Research. This has raised the level of expectation required of todays information worker and has created a demand for broader access to e-mail and other business applications needed to conduct business. Those who cant or dont want to justify purchasing a BlackBerry can use Emozes push e-mail services to do the exact same thing, but from any device.
Emoze already offers a free push e-mail service to a broad range of email data sources and mobile device operating systems, and can be easily installed on more than 800 different devices. Emoze points out that its service is a true push solution that does not require users mobile devices to periodically dial-out and check for the receipt of new messages, calendar or contact changes. Instead, Emoze automatically acts to route emails to users handsets in real-time after determining that their device is connected and available on the network.
The application can be downloaded direct to Windows- and Symbian-based mobile devices, and uses the devices native built-in inbox. Users are prompted to fill in their username and password, after which the device starts synchronising emails and contacts immediately. The procedure is simple, says Emoze, and in a matter of minutes, the user will be able to fully synchronise emails in real-time, and at no service cost other than the data plan they establish with their carrier.
Gmail is one of the top email services in the world and were recognising the trend of business people and small firms using their Gmail as their main and functional business email account, says Emoze CEO Benny Ballin. For those that are more technically astute, they will appreciate that our application is not Java-based. This approach helps to significantly improve reliability, stability and performance of wireless devices such as battery consumption, CPU load and memory usage. By using the native contact and calendar clients of each handset as shipped by the handset vendor, we ensure the best possible user experience.
