Funzoo Opens for Business

Funzoo has announced the launch of its mobile apps and games store. The store offers more than 1,000 titles from publishers including EA, Glu, THQ, Real and Fox. Game titles include Doodle Jump, Tetris and Call Of Duty, but the site also offers more practical apps such as Personal Money Manager and ForcaWeather. Apps are available for all major mobile platforms.

Funzoo is a joint project by Zamano and Selatra, who say it has been conceived as more than just a retail store. While all products are available as one-off downloads priced from £1 – £4.99, Funzoo says it aims to create a genuine sense of community around its service. Users can share, rate and review their favourite products using Funzoo’s Facebook and Twitter pages, and a Funzoo blog is in the offing.

“Smartphones and social media have changed everything,” says Funzoo’s online channel manager, Gareth O Neill. “The smartphone has transformed the quality of mobile games and made it easier to distribute them too. Meanwhile, social media is putting power into the hands of users. We believe fans of games and apps deserve a better retail experience. And we know theyll find it at Funzoo.”

Currently, Funzoo offers PayForIt as the sole payment mechanism, but says it plans to add PayPal later this year.
