Google looks set to launch Google Drive, its cloud storage system, in the middle of next week. Apparently, Drive will provide Android, iOS, PC and Mac users with 5GB of free storage, with the option to pay for more. From the standpoint of equivalent services like Dropbox – which offers 2GB free, and 25GB on certain Samsung and HTC handsets – it could be a killer app in all the wrong ways.
Rumours about the service have appeared all around the internet, with TheNextWeb reporting it had received a draft release, and TechCrunch getting its hands on a currently-deactivated OSX app.
