Google Updates the Play Developer Console

Google has made its new Google Play Developer Console – which enables developers to push their app onto the Play Store, and track its progress after release – available to all developers.

The update, which follows a period of beta testing, features an overhauled user interface, intending to make it easier to navigate and the ability to publish their app listing in 49 languages, translated automatically.

The main focus, though, is the improved analytics. Developers can view user ratings for their apps, and how theyve changed over time, broken down by country, language, operator, device, version of Android, and app version.

“One of the most important things youll be able to do is track the success of your app over time — its how you continue to iterate and make beautiful, successful apps,” said the Google Play team in a blog post. “Youll see new statistics about your user ratings: a graph showing changes over time, for both the all-time average user rating and new user ratings that come in on a certain day. As with other statistics, youll be able to break down the data by device, country, language, carrier, Android version, and app version. For example, after optimising your app for tablets, you could track your ratings on popular tablets.”
