H3G and ZTE Partner for Austrian LTE Network

ZTE Corporation, a global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has announced the launch of a commercial long-term evolution (LTE) network in Austria in partnership with Hutchison 3G (H3G) Austria.

The jointly built network is H3G’s first commercial LTE network and is based on ZTE’s latest Uni-RAN and Uni-Core solutions. As part of the project, ZTE will provide H3G Austria with LTE/HSPA+ equipment for major cities across the country, and upgrade H3G Austria’s 3G core network to support LTE services.

H3G says the network was built to meet a rising demand for mobile broadband services in Austria, and that it will dramatically reduce operating expenses, and allow for flexible and efficient networking. “H3G Austria is dedicated to creating a novel wireless lifestyle for Austrians,” says H3G Austria CEO Jan Trionow. “This jointly built LTE network has brought to life a faster, more efficient wireless environment for Austrian users.”

H3G Austria is a fully owned subsidiary of Hutchison 3G, a multinational mobile service provider that operates in several countries across the world.
