How to Win Friends and Influence People

I have to take my hat off to Mobile Interactive Group (MIG) once again for another great event today in conjunction with the Institute of Sales Promotion.
The event attracted a good line-up of speakers from big-name brands, including Coca Cola, Barclaycard and Orange to name but a few. But it was in the last two sessions, when MIGs David Glennie and Tim Dunn took to the stage, talking about apps and future technology trends respectively, that things really livened up.
Yes, the eagle-eyed among you will have spotted that they are one of our advertisers. But that should not preclude us from praising them for pulling together an audience of around 100 people with varying degrees of interest in, and experience of, mobile, and both enthusing and educating them.
The enthusing bit came via some great demos of Augmented Reality and Foursquare on mobile. The education via some very blunt satements such as: You are failing your customers if you are not adequately represented on the mobile Internet.
And at the same time, they managed to keep it entertaining and give the audience a few laughs, and send them away, I would imagine, having thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Whatever leads MIG get out of todays event, they deserve them.
