The patent dispute between HTC and Apple has ruled in HTCs favour. Apple had claimed that HTC had infringed on four of its patents – behind the slide-to-unlock gesturing system and multilingual keyboards, as well as technology relating to its multi-touch interaction and interaction with images.
A London high court judge ruled that the patents were invalid in this case. The slide-to-unlock patent was rejected as Apples own innovation, due to a similar system in use on the Neonode N1 mobile device released in 2004.
Thats particularly interesting given Apples lawsuits on similar fronts against other smartphone manufacturers, including Samsung.
