Infobip Launches HLR Lookup Service

Mobile messaging firm Infobip has launched its ‘HLR Lookup’ service, which it says is  tailored for the needs of SMS aggregators and mobile operators. The service enables the organisation to check, in real time, the validity of a mobile number, and gives extended information – including operator identification and roaming information. These details allow operators and SMS aggregators to improve revenue margins, by reducing routing inaccuracies.

According to Infobip, the service harnesses the power of the firm’s global network of owned-and-operated Short Message Centres (SMSCs), to provide SMS aggregators and mobile operators with the most detailed mobile number information on the market. Infobip’s multiple, geographically diverse connections to the SS7 mobile signalling network, enable full access to operator Home Location Registers (HLRs).

“With the increasing popularity of mobile number portability, it is becoming increasingly difficult to guarantee the successful delivery of voice calls and text messages” saus Infobip CEO, Silvio Kutic. “Not only does Infobip’s HLR Lookup service allow mobile operators and SMS aggregators to maintain quality of service for SMS and voice termination, it can also reduce costs and improve revenues, by ensuring effective least-cost routing, and correct network billing.”
