mBlox Launches Shortcode Number Checker

Mobile transaction network mBlox has launched mBlox Number Checker, a Shortcode identification tool for consumers who want to find the name and contact details of content providers using the mBlox network. mBlox Number Checker will enable consumers to quickly contact the content providers with whom they have a query, enabling a rapid response to enquiries.
mBlox says the Number Checker builds on the steps it has already taken in its campaign for complete compliance from its customers, and is the latest initiative from the company to bring greater transparency and compliance to the premium rate market. The launch of mBlox Number Checker follows the launch of mBlox Detect in September 2008. The service only works with information providers who use mBloxs Shortcodes and network and has been introduced to assist consumers and bring greater transparency to the premium rate market.
To use the service, consumers go to the mBlox Number Checker at www.mblox.com/support/ and enter the 4 to 6-digit Shortcode number of the service they are querying as it is shown on their bill, plus the country where their mobile phone is registered. mBlox Number Checker will then provide the consumer with the name and contact details of the content provider associated with the Short
code in question.
mBlox has also issued advice as to the steps consumers should take if they receive a bill with an unknown Shortcode, for which they believe they have been incorrectly charged. First, they should contact the content provider from which the SMS originated, if they have this information. mBlox notes that the vast majority of companies provide valuable and legitimate services and are happy to help and respond to any queries. Secondly, they should contact their mobile network operator, who may be able to direct the enquiry to the specific provider of the content or service. Finally, if is determined or suspected that the mBlox network has been used, mBlox Number Checker can help establish the source of the SMS where the content provider is uncertain. Alternatively, consumers can complete mBloxs consumer care form available here.
mBlox points out that the mBlox Number Checker does not work for shared Shortcodes, where multiple services use the same number. It notes also that consumers can use the PhonePayPlus Number Checker tool to view information and obtain contact details for content providers not using the mBlox network.
