MIT Powering BSkyB Interactive Services

Mobile Interactive Technology (MIT) has revealed that it is powering a range of interactive services for multichannel broadcaster BSkyB, through its messaging platform, MIDAS. The brief includes BSkyB’s SMS Alerts services, and a range of micropayment mechanics. The service went live in February, enabling Sky consumers to stay up to date with real-time news and sports, and to actively participate and share their views via SMS.

BSkyB is benefitting from the expertise provided by MIT’s dedicated Interactive Production Team and Operations Team, as well as strategic support on how to best to deliver its mobile and digital interactivity over the coming 24 months.

“We have been providing mobile services to the UK’s Broadcast industry for some years now and we’re delighted to be working with BSkyB on their mobile strategy,” says MIT commercial director, Rob Weisz. “MIDAS has been built to operator-grade standards, providing a robust yet flexible platform to operators, media and entertainment companies, and broadcasters alike across the UK.”

David Gibbs, general manager – mobile, at BSkyB, says that within the broadcast industry at large, MIT is widely regarded as the defacto provider of interactive services and messaging solutions. “Their knowledge and expertise has allowed us to be more strategic in our approach to both mobile and digital, and to ensure our customers have the best services at their fingertips,” he says. “Mobile is increasingly becoming the third screen for our subscribers as they look to access content and services on the move. Licensing MIDAS and working closely with MIT will enable us to help provide that.”
