Mobcast Powers Singapore eBook Store

Asian telco SingTel has partnered with digital book company Mobcast to power a new digital book service.

The service, called skoob, launches today, and is the first cloud-based eBook store in Singapore.

skoob is a digital bookstore that allows customers to read across digital devices and on the desktop. Mobcast have developed a set of free apps for iPad, iPhone, and Android phones and tablets to enable users to browse, purchase, and read books from the store.

Customers will also be offered personalised offers and special deals, thanks to a CRM system from Mobcast.

Goh Seow Eng, SingTels chief of digital home, says: “The Singapore market has long been overlooked by eBook services from abroad. With the launch of skoob, Singapore readers finally have a service that offers local books and caters specifically to their tastes and needs. It also provides local publishers and writers with a powerful digital platform that allows them to reach a wider audience.”

Tony Lynch, Mobcast CEO, says: “Mobcast is in a position to maximise the digital book revolution for Singtel and we are very pleased our Any book, Anywhere platform, combined with our experience, will contribute to establishing them in this market. By preloading and marketing the Any book, Anywhere bookshop application on every device they sell, Singtel will have an advantage over the competition.”
