The Microsoft Office suite of apps that comes preloaded on Windows Phone 8 device has been a bit of a selling point for Microsofts OS, but it looks like Office will be coming to iOS and Android before too long.
Microsoft Office will launch as a set of free apps in early 2013, landing on iOS around the start of March and then Android in May. Initially, the apps will just be able to read Office documents, but users will be able to buy a subscription that also lets them make edits.
Rumours of Office launching on non-Windows mobile platforms have been circling for a while now, but Microsoft has understandly stayed quiet about it. However, a Microsoft spokesperson has now confirmed to The Verge that “Office will work across Windows Phone, iOS and Android”.
