Opera has launched the latest version of its Android web browser, Opera 14 – its first browser powered by WebKit.
Opera announced at Mobile World Congress in February that it would be moving away from its own rendering engine, Presto, in favour of open-source engine WebKit.
When we spoke to Opera business development manager Jeremy Forrester at MWC (you can watch the full video interview below), he said that the shift would help Operas engineers focus more on additional features and innovations.
Opera 14 follows up on this promise, with a streamlined UI, and a couple of unique features – Off-Road, which offers data compression, and Discover, which serves up a curated range of content from around the web, which can be filtered by the user.
