Orange Expecting Mobile TV Spike as World Cup Kicks Off

Orange UK says it is expecting a spike in demand for its mobile TV service off the back of the World Cup, which kicks off in S. Africa tomorrow.

“Based on the surge in demand for mobile TV during the Ashes last summer, we expect viewing figures could rocket by at least 74 per cent during the World Cup,” says Orange UK’s head of sport partnerships and services, Steve Wallage.

Orange customers can watch games shown on ITV1 live on their mobiles by buying a mobile TV package for £5 per month. Users can also access live commentaries, scores, team news, fixtures and match results via Orange’s free World Cup Live app, which can be sent to friends and used on any network. Text WORLD CUP to 247 to receive a free link to the app and other World Cup goodies.

To assist those planning to watch games on their phone outdoors, Orange has produced a limited run of mobile phone visors for fans to get their hands on, though these are only available to magazine’s to offer as competition prices. Orange has also created a template which is available on the Orange website, for anyone who fancies making one themselves.
