Payair Mobile Payments Solutions Flies South for the Winter

Swedish firm Payair has started rolling out its mobile payments solution in Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal, as a part of a 80m SEK (£7.6m) deal with an unnamed Swiss-Italian payment service industry team.

The resulting company, Payair South Europe, will based in Geneva, headed up by newly-appointed CEO Pierpaolo Griffa.

“We all know that the mobile payments industry is still experiencing high fragmentation of different services and solutions covering vertical or local markets,” said Griffa. “We see Payair as a unique provider of mobile payment global solutions. In this respect, the extension of Payair services into the South Europe markets is key to a worldwide reach-out, after the recent and successful launch of Payair in the US and Middle East.”
