Premier League Celebrates 20 Years With an App

The English Premier League (football) is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the launch of the Premier League 20 Seasons app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

The app features 100 top moments from the past two decades of top flight English football. The 100 one-minute clips include the first ever goal in the top flight, scored by Sheffield Uniteds Brian Deane playing against Manchester United at the start of the 1992/93 season, and Wayne Rooney’s acrobatic overhead kick aginst Manchester City in the 2010/11 season.

Other highlights include David Beckham’s audacious goal from the halfway line against Wimbledon in 1996/97; Alan Shearer being recognised as the Premier League’s Player of the Decade in 2002; and footage of Arsenal’s team of Invincibles in 2003/04.

The app features at least five clips from every Premier League season. Each of the clips is accompanied by a quiz question via an interactive ‘Q’ button, offering the chance to win Premier League prizes via competitions within the app.

The Premier League 20 Seasons app was produced by the Premier League’s production partner IMG Media, part of IMG Worldwide and developed by Mobile Interactive Group (MIG). It sells for £1.99/$2.99.
