Samsung Updates bada SDK

Samsung has updated its bada SDK to version 2.0. The application tool for Samsungs bada mobile platform comes ahead of three new Wave smartphones, which will be powered by bada and will follow later this year.

bada 2.0 includes multi-tasking, NFC support, and voice recognition. Samsung also says bada 2.0 will include improved support for web applications such as Flash and HTML5.

Simon Stanford, MD of mobile for Samsung UK and Ireland says: “We are extremely pleased with the success of bada and our Wave devices, and have brought together our key mobile innovations for bada 2.0. Whilst we will continue to work with partners including Google and Microsoft, bada will be a big focus for us in the future as we work to make it a leading mobile platform.”

Developers using the new bada 2.0 SDK will be able to intergrate in-app ads thanks to a new Ads API. There is also a new Profiler and Emulator to optimise device performance when running apps.

bada 2.0 SDK is available from the bada developer site. Samsung is running a developer competition, too – the company will give away a cash prize to the first 20 developers who reach 100,000 app downloads.
