Mobile music discovery provider Shazam has added 25m new users in the past six months, taking the total number to 75m. The service has also identified more than 1bn songs. Shazam’s 1 billionth track was Gettin’ Over by David Guetta, featuring Chris Willis. The company says it expects to pass 100m users by the end of the year.
Shazam has established a footprint in over 200 countries across six continents, through partnerships with leading operators and handset makers. Shazam was also recently named the most popular mobile application in Europe in a survey conducted by comScore.

Shazam enables users to identify and ‘tag’ any song playing in a bar, record shop, or anywhere else where the music can be clealy heard. Users can also preview 30-second clips, buy tracks, find local and international tour dates for the tagged artist and purchase tickets to the gigs. In addition Shazamers can find out what’s hot and popular through the Shazam Tag Charts, get track recommendations and share music moments by sending Tags as a Tweet, to a Facebook mini-feed or by email.
