Symbolising the changing nature of work in a mobile and digital world, the top five most wanted IT experts in 2012 were programmers, web designers, iPhone developers, CMS managers and Android developers.
According to freelance recruitment start-up, twago.com, which specilises in placing cloud workers, among the top 10 desired skills are iPhone and Android development, along with a range of programming languages, including HTML5. 
“The app economy has created new professions in the last couple of years and the analysis of the projects in 2012 on twago is emphasising that trend,” said Gunnar Berning, CEO of twago. “The need for qualified app developers for iPhone and Android, as well as HTML5 experts is dynamically growing. We expect that this will become even stronger in 2013 as Windows Phone 8 and Apple’s iPad mini further drive competition.”
