Tablets will Account for a Third of Mobile Traffic in 2013

Android and iOS will increase their lead in the smartphone OS market during 2013, with both adding 1 per cent to their total share globally, reaching 52 per cent and 44 per cent respectively.
Despite its new device launches, Jumptaps February mobile report predicts that the Blackberry OS will be squeezed from 5 to 2 per cent, while ‘other’ handsets will increase from 1 to 2 per cent.
Samsung will increase its market share of Android handsets in 2013, going from 42 to 56 per cent, while its nearest competitors, LG and HTC, will be stuck neck and neck at 11 per cent each.
Tablets will account for an increasing share of mobile traffic, going from 18 per cent of traffic on Jumptaps network in 2012 to 29 per cent in 2013. Smartphone share will drop from 78 to 70 per cent, while feature phones will account for just 2 per cent of data traffic in 2013, down from 4 per cent in 2012.
