Thumbstar Negotiates Deal with China Telecom

Thumbstar Games has made a deal with government-run mobile operator China Telecom and Viva Red to distribute mobile games in China. The deal will enables mobile game developers and publishers to distribute apps through the 189gameshop platform, which will localise each game and ensure that IPs are protected.
“Our direct partnership with Viva Red Limited and China Telecom delivers a secure route to a previously unmapped and unprotected market,” says Thumbstar CEO Gareth Edmondson. “The terms of this landmark deal will enable developers across the globe to leverage existing and future IPs to a content-hungry audience, with the peace of mind that this state-backed partnership can provide the necessary copyright protection to encourage further market growth.”
One of the world’s largest mobile operators, China Telecom has over 130m subscribers, and a growth rate of 3m users per month.
