Uber Returns to New York

Taxi hailing app Uber has returned to New York, six months after the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission blocked it from operating in the city.

The same commission has now licensed Uber as the first participant in a yearlong e-hail pilot programme.

There are limitations on the services availability, however. Users wont be able to pay using the app, but will have to rely on cash or credit cards as before, and they wont be able to hail taxis from airports using the app.

Ubers black car service, which was running during the six months it was blocked in the city, will continue to be available, as a defult, with users having to specifically request a New York taxi.
