Video Magazine Looks at Mobile Social Networking

Wireless World Forum has launched a mobileYouth video magazine, which is available to view on the companys website. The magazine offers a comprehensive multimedia overview of currents trends and issues in the wireless industry, and includes information from consumers, experts and industry leaders.
This edition concentrates on the current boom and potential mobile future of social networking and consumer-generated content sites such as MySpace, Facebook, Bebo and YouTube. It includes street interviews with consumers that reveal that Facebook and YouTube are the most popular Social Networking and Consumer Generated Content sites, favoured by 21.5% and 17.5% of respondents respectively. Those interviewed prefer these sites rather than MySpace because they allow for easier sharing of multimedia content, and do not support generic promotion.
David Springall, CTO and Co-founder of YoSpace, appears in the video magazine and suggests that a low-margin, high-volume model would be a successful approach to monetising consumer generated content.
Anuj Khanna, Head of Marketing at Tanla, says that interactivity, originality and authenticity make consumer-generated content more attractive to the youth market than professional content.
The video magazine is free to view until the end of July. There are more mobileYouth videos available here on YouTube.
