Vodafone has launched the Vodafone Smart III, an entry level Android smartphone, for £95.
As the pricepoint might suggest, the Smart IIIs specs fall firmly into the low-end category, with a 1 GHz single-core processor, 512 MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage, expandable up to 36GB through a microSD slot. Its 4” WVGA display runs at a resolution of 480×800, and the device boats a 5 MP camera.
However, the most important factor is that the handset runs on Android 4.2 (Jellybean), a marked improvement over its predecessor, which ran on Android 2.3, and most similar own-brand handsets from operators.
The device comes preloaded with Vodafones own software, including Media Manager and Battery & Memory Manager, as well as a selection of third-party apps.
The phone will be available for £95 to pay-as-you-go customers, and on pay monthly contracts starting at £13 per month.
