Mobile device maker Samsung is working with cross-media publishing solutions firm WoodWing to bring digital publications to Samsungs GALAXY Tab.
Available to consumers in Europe this month, and in the US and Asia soon after, the Android-powered GALAXY Tab has a 7-inch TFT display, and includes 16GB or 32GB of internal storage and 32GB microSD expansion. It also features a TouchWiz 3.0 user interface, wi-fi, GPS, rear- and front-facing cameras, and can function as a mobile phone.
WoodWing is supporting the GALAXY with its Digital Magazine Tools software, which enables publishers to easily create interactive publications for tablet devices, and make them available through a native app. The app can be customized to a high degree, allowing publishers to extend their brand identity to the mobile channel. Many publishers around the world are already using WoodWings Digital Magazine Tools to create iPad versions of their publications.
“Tablets have already proven to be the perfect device to enjoy reading magazines and newspapers,” says WoodWing president, Erik Schut. “Were honoured to work together with Samsung, bringing our Digital Magazine solution to the GALAXY Tab. For publishers, this is also great news, as they can be present on the GALAXY Tab at an early stage.”
