Microsoft Has Sold 1.5m Surface Tablets

Microsoft has sold around 1.5m of its Surface tablets since the devices launched at the end of October last year, according to a Bloomberg report.

400,000 of those sales are the Pro model, the full fat model which runs Windows 8, which only went on sale in February. Given the time difference, this means that Surface Pro tablets have been outselling the cheaper RT models at a rate of 1.5:1, with the RT shifting around 8,000 units per day on average, compared to 12,000 per day for the Pro.

By comparison, in the final quarter of 2012, Apple sold 22.9m iPads – thats equivalent to roughly 250,000 units a day, versus the combined Surface figure of 20,000.
